#SONY2013

KONY 2012, SONY 2013, get it? Ah well. What I'm getting at is that Sony are making big news this year with the new announcement of the PS4, broascast live from New York last night.

I was so excited I thought I was going to wet my pants.

I am really excited about this console. Providing Sony deliver on their promises of seamless social interation, virtually zero waiting time on digital titles and processing speed up the yin-yang, this console will completely blow the PS3 out the water.

Announced games include inFamous: Second Son by Sucker Punch, Watch_Dogs by Ubisoft, Diablo III by Blizzard and DriveClub. Unfortunately it has been confirmed that the PS4 will not have backwards compatibility with PS3 games on disc, but there will instead be a cloud based compatibility with all previous Sony consoles. It has not yet been confirmed how this will work, only that it will be gradually rolled out.

The controller in my opinion looks a little clumsy and large but I'm sure I will get used to it in the same way that I had to get used to Playstation controller when they developed analogue sticks. These analogue sticks however are concave! No more thumbs slipping off the stick at the crucial moment.
Score.

It features a touch pad above the sticks whose functionality has not been fully explained. They did show an ability to use it to alter the camera angle. This touch pad means that the start and select buttons have been moved for the first time ever. I'm sure that will take some getting used to.
It also features a "Share" button which fuses in with your social media platform in order that you can share videos and other stuff that requires you to actually have friends. The controller also features a light bar for compatibility with the new installment of Playstation move. The shape of the triggers has also been changed but not by much.
The Dualshock 4 also features a headphone jack, reduced latency, improved rumble and just a generally improved performance.

The PS4 has been given a release date somewhere around the Holiday period, although nothing is set in stone yet. There is also no price on the console as of yet, but it is rumoured to retail in the UK for something in the area of £300.

More information will be posted when it become available.
